About Me

When I am not counseling, I serve as an adjunct professor, motivational speaker and soon to be author.  Currently, I am engaged in professional and scholarly work focused on African American male experiences, mentoring, multicultural issues, and the practice of self-care for helping professionals.

In my personal life, I enjoy traveling, live music, movies, culinary arts, and spending time with my family. I am a thrill-seeker who enjoys riding motorcycles, indoor and outdoor skydiving, and am a licensed mixologist.

Education and Experience

I have over sixteen years of experience in the mental health and counseling profession. I earned a dual bachelors degree in psychology and sociology from the University of West Alabama. I earned a masters degree in clinical mental health counseling from the University of Alabama at Birmingham and my doctorate in counselor education and supervision from Auburn University.

In addition to being a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in three states (New Jersey, Georgia, and Pennsylvania), I am an Approved Clinical Supervisor (ACS), and a National Certified Counselor (NCC).

I have worked in community agency and mental health centers, city government, and substance abuse treatment facilities. Additionally, I have maintained a clinical private practice since 2010 that focuses on adults, adolescents, couples, and families.
