Growing up Kasey Coleman, a Birmingham, Alabama native, always knew that she wanted to help people. While completing her studies at The University of Alabama at Birmingham, she developed a fascination with the human brain and behavior. This started her on the journey to earning her Bachelor’s degree in Psychology as well as her Master’s degree in Counseling: Clinical Mental Health. During her studies, she observed the need for mental health providers within many marginalized groups that she belonged to. This sparked a passion for wanting to create more inclusive therapeutic spaces for BIPOC, LGBTQ+, and those in the poly/non-monogamous and kink/BDSM communities.
Following her graduation, Kasey started working for a LGBTQ+ medical clinic in Alabama, where she provided counseling services to the local LGBTQ+ community, primarily those who identified as transgender in need of gender-affirming services. Here she also developed LGBTQ+ youth counseling groups and provided LGBTQ+ cultural trainings to professionals within the mental health profession. This chapter of her life encouraged her to relocate to Atlanta to continue to serve the populations she is so passionate about and to be a space of inclusive care.
Since her relocation to Atlanta, she has continued to provide mental health services to those in the LGBTQ+ community, educate the community on inclusive care, and train clinicians on best practices when working with sexual and gender minorities.
Outside of her role as a counselor, Kasey enjoys spending time in nature hiking. She also enjoys going on food adventures, engaging in aerial fitness, and attending local events. When she isn’t indulging in food, she spends her time with loved ones and takes up new hobbies.
